We'll kick off the season with TARBORO's TOWN-WIDE TAG SALE. Families, neighbors and individuals have been gathering their stuff to sell and will be setting up yard sales all over town. Our FREE Tarboro's Townwide Tag Sale directory will help you find them all. After your early morning treasure hunt has ended, wander down to Tarboro's Downtown where you'll find a fantastic multi-store SIDEWALK SALE sponsored by the downtown merchants.
There will be assorted activities and offerings from other businesses, nonprofit groups and individuals filling in the empty spots along Main Street. Myra McCall, our local masseuse, will offer relaxing mini sessions for a $5.00 donation to Relay For Life. The FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY will set up tables downtown to have a SIDEWALK BOOK SALE.
To satisfy your appetite, JB's Home Cooked Food will be frying up fish and chicken dinner plates. The Rocky Mount JUNETEENTH Planning Committee will be serving hot dogs and candy apples. Jin Jin's Chinese Restaurant and La Familia's Spanish/Caribbean cooking will add an international flare. Merci! (on Church St) invites you to their coffee tasting in the morning and wine tasting in the afternoon. The good folks at the Quigless Center are planning some healthy desserts. There will be plenty of variety to please everyone's taste buds.
In support of Tarboro's 2nd Saturdays, The Tar River Players will be offering a matinee perfomance of "Inherit The Wind" at 2:00 pm in the McIntyre Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College.
For our listening pleasure, local musicians have graciously donated their time and talents to perform. BELIEVIN' HEARTS, a southern gospel/ praise & worship group from Mildred Missionary Baptist Church in Tarboro, will sing in 4-part harmony starting at 11:00 am on our make-shift sidewalk stage at 305 Main Street by the Community News board. 
At 1:00 pm get ready for the rocking righteous sounds of Tarboro's own STEADFAST, playing and singing the area's best Christian classic rock music! Following them, at about 2:30 pm, to keep us entertained throughout the afternoon, THE STATON FAMILY SINGERS will bless us with their music and voices.
The handsome barbers of Blender's Edge barber shop have promised to pump up the volume, open the doors and add to the festivities.
We'll also have an ANAGRAM RIDDLE GAME that will require some word skills and knowledge of Tarboro history, but if you're quick enough and smart enough, you could win a $20 gift certificate from one of the particpating businesses. Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated. For a free event, with very limited funds, we're off to a great start! Donations are welcomed.

To Play The Anagram-Riddle Game:
Contestants may pick up an ENTRY FORM at any participating business (listed above). Then they must visit all participating businesses to gather the LETTER CLUES. A clue sheet will be posted in each business. After gathering all of the LETTER CLUES, contestants must UNSCRAMBLE the letters to FORM the WORDS of the riddle. Once the words are in place and the riddle's question is clear. The contestant must ANSWER THE QUESTION correctly to win a $20 gift certificate from a participating business.
Each participating business has donated a $20 gift certificate concealed in a blank envelope. One prize-filled envelope is selected by each game winner in the order in which their winning game entry form is submitted. There are 14 participating businesses and 14 gift certificates to win. Only the first 14 winning entries will win a prize. Players have 1 week to solve the anagram and the riddle. Entries must be submitted to The Unusual Shoppe by no later than 4:00pm on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
