T2S-GOT-175.jpgTARBORO's 2nd SATURDAY - November 8, 2008

We were working on the idea of having Cook-off during November's 2nd Saturday, but when we started seriously looking at all of the details and requirements, we've decided to hold off on the TAR-B-Q Cook-Off until next spring when we can do it right. For the Street Fair portion of our daywe'll have our usual terrific deals for shoppers with Sidewalk Sales and a variety of Arts & Crafts vendors.

The holiday shopping season is soon approaching and our downtown merchants are stocking up now. When browsing the sales creates an appetite, wander down to the Square for Smoked ribs, pulled pork narbecue, hot dogs and more. Andy's Restaurant on Western Boulevard is setting up it's frozen custard stand downtown for everyone to enjoy. A brand-new Italian restaurant in open on Main Street. La Mamas will be open and ready for you to give them a try.  Don't forget The Main Street Cafe', with their deli-style sandwiches, paninis and wraps, plus yummy coffii drinks, shakes and desserts. They are one of our biggest supporters providing meals for the musicians on T2S.

Along with the food vendors, you'll be pleased to find a variety of artists displaying their creations, and this month, more nonprofit groups are joining in to use the opportunity to provide the public with valuable information about diabetes, the trap, neuter, release program for cats, and more.

William Whitehurst BandThe Street Fair will start at 10am and FREE LIVE MUSIC will keep everyone entertained. We got a great musical line up scheduled beginning with the William Whitehurst Band, a group of very talented young men with a smooth country sound that brings a smile to your face and will get your toes a-tappin'.

Jake Johnson Around noon, an all-time favorite, Jake Johnson, from Greenville is back in Tarboro, breezing in with his own gutsy classic rock style.  Jake knows all your favorites and plays them like they're his own.

Friday's VeilMid-afternoon, we are getting a special treat. Friday's Veil, a terrific Christian rock band is driving in from Raleigh to put on a show. We've heard their music recordings, loved what we heard, and are really looking forward to enjoying the live performance.

Jason Sessoms (& Friends)Also back by popular demand will be Jason Sessoms and friends from Rocky Mount. You loved 'em last time, you'll love'm this time.  Tarboro's 2nd Saturdays has always got the best independent music in eastern North Carolina.

Daylight savings time, makes it get dark early, so the street fair will be definitely done by about 4:00pm, but the night will be just beginning.

AFTERHOURS ON THE SQUARE starts at 7:00pm.

Afterhours on the Square is always a blast. We'll have Open Mic and a brand-new Karaoke system (for Frank and the rest of us), so come on down and join in the fun.  The vendors have all packed up and gone home, so bring your own snacks and beverages. It's a great way to spend a Saturday night in Tarboro and it's FREE!
