T2S-GOT-175.jpgTARBORO's 2nd SATURDAY - October 11, 2008

As the weather cools down the crowds pick up. We're looking forward to a great time at October's T2S event.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Grassroots of Tarboro will be working in conjunction with the Tarboro Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce and the Breast Cancer Awareness Task Force of Heritage Hospital to have the Tarboro's 2nd Saturday as one of PAINT THE COUNTY PINK community awareness events.  The Task Force will have a big tent with information and give-aways.

October is also time, once again, for the Tarboro Town-wide Yard Sale.  This biannual event draws hundreds of  early morning bargain shoppers  to town to find fabulous treasures and super great deals at the dozens of family and community yard sales held on that day.  A directory is provided and the treasure hunt begins.  Last April there were 22 individual yard sales listed in our directory. This time we're hoping for at least twice that many.

The line up for the Music Fest is taking shape, with gospel music by Tonya Hinton James, acoustic guitarist and songster, Tim Bivens, The I-Bard  from Ayden, award-winning blues musician Spider Mike Bochey, and Tarboro's own The Usual Suspects.  Popular local performer, Chris Chappell from Rocky Mount will join us to complete another full day of the best independent music in eastern North Carolina. PLUS we'll finish off the daytime music with a terrific performance by the Tarboro High School Gospel Choir.

Sometime around mid-day, 125 Harley Davidson motorcycles are scheduled to roar into town in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To add another dimension to our "Fun Things To Do on T2S" list, The Main Street Cafe' is organizing a geocaching event.  CACHE & COFFEE will start at 3:00PM with a Meet and Greet at the Main Street Cafe, 439 N. Main Street, Tarboro.

The Street Fair will end at 4:00pm. We'll pack up the daytime events and then it's time to come back downtown for "After-hours on the Square".  We have the chairs and tables, we have the stage, we have the sound equipment and microphones, all we need is you.  From 7:00pm to 10:00pm its OPEN MIC and KARAOKE TIME!  So come on down and join in the fun.  We'll be singing (and dancing) and having a good time on Saturday Night in downtown Tarboro.
