The Farmers Market in Tarboro
Monday, March 24, 2008 at 07:08AM
What happened to our Farmers Market? I see the sign for it at a brick building on Albemarle Avenue & Church Street, but I never see anyone selling produce.
Have I just been elsewhere on the days that the Farmers Market is open? Does anyone sell there, ever? If you know, fill me in on this, for a Farmers Market is an asset to any community and it may become another pet project of the Grassroots of Tarboro. GOT Vegetables?

In season, the Farmer's Market is generally open Tuesday and Friday mornings from 7 am or so until 10 or 11 am. Personally, I wish it were open Saturday mornings when I'm not trying to get children to school or daycare and me to work. I know I could support it more then.
After several unsuccessful trips to the "market" last year I made an inquiry "downtown" and was told that the market is open when it is open when they have something to sell - if they don't have anything for that day or week then they don't open just to be open!! I tried every day for a month and never found them to be open.
