Community Networking on MySpace.com

myspaceLogo.jpgIt took me quite awhile to catch on to the benefits of myspace.com.

It may be a sign of being over 50 and of being not as "cool" as I think I am, because for the longest time I thought myspace was for kids. I thought it was a place where teenagers made personal pages and "connected" with all of their friends (real and online friends) and shared chat, pictures, music, silly surveys, etc..

Well, it is all of that, and more.  I've been using myspace to network not only with people from Tarboro but with musicians, artists, performers, event planners.  Now I, too, have a long list of friends (real and online friends) and I can reach them all in an instant with a myspace bulletin.  Then, if any of my friends think my bulletin may be of interest to their friends, they repost it on their bulletin board and out it goes to another group of people. In this way, my message can easily reach hundreds of people.

grassroots-blogger.jpgIt's not good for everything.  Certainly no good for product marketing or anything that could be considered SPAM, but great for connecting with a wide range of entertainers and their fans, which allows me to not only find performers for upcoming events, but could possibly bring in the audience as well.

If any of you are on myspace and want to add me as a friend, you can find me at http://www.myspace.com/gotarboro
