T2S-2009
In Tarboro, North Carolina,on the 2nd Saturday of the month, EVERY month, there are loads of fun things to do in this beautiful historic town.
If you are the outdoorsy type, bring your canoe or kayaks. Our most popular scenic river trail starts just west of town and heads north, then east, then south for a 4 hour gentle paddle trip looping around Tarboro to bring you ashore at Riverside Park at the east end of Main Street. There are very few home along the river so nature abounds. It is not uncommon to see bald eagles, osprey, deer, wild turkey and more. Bring a picnic lunch and stop along the way to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
If bicycling is more your "thing" we have clearly marked level bike paths that take your through our charming historic homes district and out of town to the park and nature trail at Indian Lake.
Stroll our brick-laid sidewalks to browse the shops and eateries in our downtown. Have a picnic lunch in our 13-acre town common. Visit the Edgecombe County Veteran's Museum, or browse the gardens at the Historic Blount Bridgers House and tour the Pittman Art Gallery.
An ever-changing array of special events are planned by the Grassroots of Tarboro, the Tarboro Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce, the Edgecombe County Arts Council, Edgecombe Community College, the Performing Arts Series, the Tar River Players, as well as, area schools, churches and social clubs.
